January 2026 Microfilm update
Welcome to The Microfilm Shop. We are a subsidiary of Genus UK.
We have been heavily involved in the microfilm consumables market for over 50 years and we are the exclusive master distributor for Fujifilm microfilm for the whole of Europe, Middle East and Africa. We also sell extensively to South America, Asia and Australasia.
In January 2025 Fujifilm Japan announced the discontinuation of microfilm production with last orders being taken in December 2025. In America, Fujifilm USA decided to ration supplies of microfilm consumables to the USA market. Outside of North America, Fujifilm Europe allocated large volumes of microfilm consumables to Genus and The Microfilm Shop in the UK – enough for 3 years’ worth of supplies. We have therefore been supplying large volumes of Fujifilm microfilm to the USA market since June 2025, via our exclusive USA distributor, Microfilm Products Company.
Microfilm Products Company will be the exclusive US distributor for Genus – The Microfilm Shop throughout 2026, including a full range of Fujifilm compatible Developer and Fixer chemicals, including the return of Brown Toner. At the end of 2026 will be launching a full range of silver microfilms to not only match but extend the range previously offered by Fujifilm.

Fujifilm discontinues microfilm production – September 2025 Microfilm Update
In February 2025 we made the announcement that Fujifilm planned to discontinue the manufacturing of silver microfilm and that Genus had an alternative microfilm in place. Six months later it is time for an update on the situation.
Fujifilm are accepting last orders in December 2025. As the exclusive master distributor for Fujifilm microfilm for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and the main distributor for Asia and South America, Genus have been given a very generous allocation of films that we can purchase all the way until December 2025. This allocation has been based on our previous purchases and should provide us with enough stock to last well into 2027.
However, we do advise you to contact us and place orders before December 2025 in order to ensure this allocation does not run out on various products. We will be holding some stocks but, as this is both financially and physically difficult to do, we advise that you hold your own stocks too. Anything not ordered by December 2025 will not be available any longer.
The good news is that development on our new replacement film, under the Genus Ozaphan branding, is going very well. Our plan is to not only offer all 8 of the Fujifilm products that will be discontinued but add two more microfilm products to the range to make a new and larger range of 10 silver microfilms. The two new products are already being manufactured and are available for immediate sale.
