"Digital to Microfilm" Service

No Capital Outlay - Archive As You Go!

In our last newsletter we talked about our new "Digital Preservation Service". This created so much interest that we have had to expand our service.

SEND US JUST ONE DIGITAL IMAGE & we will turn it into microfilm

At The Microfilm Shop we have built our reputation on 'no minimum order quantities'. The same now applies to our digital preservation service.

Send us your images via e-mail or put a CD in the post and we will return the images to you on microfilm.
  • Choose 16mm, 35mm or fiche formats for your microfilm

  • NO capital outlay, NO equipment, NO staff, NO chemicals

  • Your current imaging system is not affected

  • Just send us your digital images and let us do the rest

  • Documents from cheque size all the way through to A0 size can be catered for

  • Your important digital images are then archived for 500 years

  • Re-scan these images back into your document management system at any time

  • Proper archiving has never been simpler

Archive Imaging & OPTIPLAN Join Forces To Offer Paper Based Solutions

Archive Imaging, a division of The Microfilm Shop , was set up to tackle all areas of document management. The Microfilm Shop has always been involved in the microfilm industry and through Archive Imaging has spent the last 3 years developing our digital offerings. We are very pleased therefore to introduce paper based solutions to our document management portfolio.

Many businesses are attempting to move towards a 'paperless office', but are thwarted by entrenched practices, government legislation and international law. A recent report (published by Price Waterhouse Cooper, The Green Sheet, Nov. 2002) studied the human psychology associated with paper over less tangible media such as electronic documents. The conclusion of the report states:

"No potential paper replacement offers the permanence, zero power consumption, low cost and accessibility of paper. The market for paper-oriented devices is therefore set to remain strong for the foreseeable future as there is no potential replacement for paper that combines all of its business, psychological and technological benefits"

Indeed, research tells us that 94% of all information is still kept on paper. Hence, we find our offices still filled with paper as a source of information. Despite the new age digital technologies, we are often called upon to provide solutions to 'mountains' of paper. In many instances, solutions are provided by recommending alternative technologies, i.e. Microfilm or Digital systems. However, not every application is suited to converting the paper. Now, we can provide a solution to those paper based applications. We are now a truly ONE STOP DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT SHOP. We are able to provide a total solution from the creation of paper to the archival life and the final destruction date of information, whether it is paper, microfilm, data or image.

This move into paper based solutions has been made possible through our partnership with OPTIPLAN.

Optiplan systems focus on paper based solutions providing benefits of:
  • Space Planning - reduce filing and storage areas up to 80%

  • Organisational Efficiency - information where, when and how it is needed

  • Cost Savings - unique top retrieval systems provide greater cost efficiencies than conventional filing methods. Save on space requirements and reduce stationary costs.
Optiplan systems are seamlessly converted to microfilm or image solutions, and could reduce the cost of document handling and the need for data capture for file indexes. An Optiplan Top Retrieval system allows instant access to paper based information and is the most efficient of all paper based systems.

Real Readers - Economy Readers Are Huge Success

18 months ago The Microfilm Shop launched its own range of readers under the Real brand. Within this time the Mini, Midi and Maxi have become, by far, our best selling reader range. These readers, with their unique black finish, have become very popular in modern office environments.

They have been designed to our requirements to keep the prices as economical as possible.

As a result they have single lens facility only, although a choice of magnification lenses is available. An optional 16/35mm 'snap-on' manual roll film carrier extends the microfilm formats that these readers can accommodate.

New Automatic Aperture Card Carrier for the 3000DSV from Kodak

Kodak have launched a new automatic aperture card carrier, the ACF7, to join its range of motorised film carriers for the 3000DSV scanner. The new carrier takes the functionality of the 3000DSV into the realm of production aperture card scanners albeit at a greatly reduced cost. The ACF7 has been specifically designed to work in medium to high volume applications including a production environment.

Key Features
  • Automatic load and eject with adjustable feed rate for viewing

  • Automatic scan to print via high-speed video printer

  • Single or batch feeding

  • 150 card loading tray

  • Batch scanning through Powerfilm V5.1 Application Software

With automatic loading and ejection plus a 150 card loading tray, the 3000DSV becomes a 'load and forget' aperture card scanning device. When considering that carriers are also available for fiche, 16/35mm open spool film, cartridges and ANSI clips, the 3000DSV is an extremely versatile tool.

Available now from The Microfilm Shop.
